The Press is an independent, experiential bookstore with a coffee shop, featuring locally roasted coffee, and wine bar in downtown Valparaiso, Indiana. Our mission is to stimulate the enjoyment of reading, imagination and socialization in a relaxing and inviting space where a bookstore is coupled with fine, locally crafted coffee during the day and wine in the evenings.
Opened by the Montgomery family in vibrant downtown Valparaiso, Indiana, in 2023, John and Dia own and operate the bookstore - Dia being the full-time store manager - while son Ben, an accomplished coffee roaster, operates the coffee bar. Daughter Madeline and son William also were a part of the startup.
The Press is a nod to the nostalgia and heritage of printing and paper, and you will discover that theme throughout the store. Inside you also will find The Coffee Press, where we serve coffee from Yaggy Road Roasting Company, the finest roaster in the region. And on certain nights after hours we open The Wine Press with outstanding vintages from Valparaiso’s own Lambstone Cellars, a family-owned and operated urban boutique winery that sources its grapes from some of the best vineyards in the country.
